Ethan’s lips curved at my words as he barked out a dark laugh, one that sent a shiver of fear down my spine.
“I should have expected nothing less,” he said.
His expression darkened as he spoke.
His eyes brimmed with disgust and he spat. “Tell me, Leah.
What makes you think you are worthy enough of being my assistant?”
His words made my chest tighten, and it took everything in me not to tremble under his gaze.
“Are you going back on your words now?” I said, stealing myself while putting on a blank expression.
“Last night, you were so eager to have me, which I allowed you.
I have fulfilled my part, so do yours,” the words tumbled out of my lips.
My hands clenched in a fist at my sides, hoping to keep myself from flinching under his hateful gaze.
