He powered off her phone, left it on the bed, then carried her out, shutting the door behind them. Still holding her tight, he walked straight to his car and gently placed her in the passenger seat.
She leaned back against the seat, eyes shut, staying completely silent.
He started the car and drove out of her neighborhood.
"Come on, don't be mad. It's not good for the baby," he said, tone softening a bit.
But she didn't respond-didn't even flinch. It was like he didn't exist.
"I really didn't want to do things like this. I just-" he paused for a second.
"I just want us to be like we used to. I promised I'd give you and the baby a real home, an official marriage. Just give me a little more time, okay? I'll make it happen soon, I swear."
Still, total silence from her. Deep down, she just couldn't accept him bulldozing his way into her life again.
A proper marriage? Shouldn't that be her choice too?
