Judy’s POV
“Straight to the point, I see… that’s what I always liked about you, Miss Montague,” Levi laughed.
My gut twisted, but I kept my expression neutral.
“I’m not here for small talk,” I tell him. “I’m here to find out about Meg Churchill. I know she’s still alive, but she’s been deemed missing. I also know that you’ve visited her at the hospital before.”
His smile slowly faded. That alone told me I was right.
Levi leaned back in his chair, the chains on his wrists clinking softly against the metal table. He studied me the way someone studies a chessboard, deciding which piece to sacrifice.
“You’re much sharper than I remembered,” he murmured.
“Don’t change the subject,” I said through my teeth; I didn’t particularly like talking to the man who had used and betrayed me and I wanted this conversation to be over sooner than later.
