"I've secured the entire VIP wing," my father's voice came through the phone. "I want someone at every corner."
I looked at the patrol cars' flashing lights outside; at least six officers walked the corridors. This should be enough—I thought, touching my bandaged wrist.
Tomorrow, I would leave this nightmare. Father had arranged everything, even an encrypted private jet flight.
But fate often strikes hardest when hope is nearest.
The moment the hospital door opened, the familiar scent mixed with the disinfectant. Liam stood there, his black coat damp with night dew, as if he'd just emerged from the deep forest.
"Come with me." He reached directly to pick me up.
"Help! Security!" My screams echoed in the empty hallway. Strangely, the heavily armed guards seemed to have vanished into thin air.
"Save your breath." Liam's cold laugh froze my blood. "You think these humans can stop an Alpha? I just went back to prepare. It's time to take you home."
My fingers crept under the pillow. "Home?
