The next morning, Thalia's fever had broken. The inflammation hadn't gone down yet, though, so she still needed the IV drip.
Tyren had gotten up early to make some pancakes. When Thalia woke up, he brought them upstairs and fed her himself.
Though Thalia had only been sick for two days, she already looked thinner. Her pale skin was almost translucent, revealing faint lines of veins. Her hair spilled loosely over her shoulders as she leaned weakly against the headboard. Her fragile look was pitiful and heartbreaking.
Tyren found himself staring. He brushed the strands from her face and tucked them behind her ears.
His eyes were filled with unguarded affection. "Get more rest after breakfast. Once you feel better in the afternoon, I'll take you out for a walk."
His long fingers grazed her delicate skin, making Thalia shiver.
