As Gavin and Chantelle approached, they found a crowd gathered around the door of a private room.
Gavin frowned.
When a harried waiter rushed past, Gavin grabbed his sleeve and asked, "What happened?"
"A few of them… are being taken to the hospital," the waiter replied hastily.
Just then, the last stretcher was carried out. Gavin stepped forward and recognized Hugo—the man he'd seen earlier in the hallway—soaked in blood and barely conscious, mumbling incoherent nonsense.
Gavin's expression turned stone-cold.
Chantelle rushed to his side. "He probably has nothing to do with Giselle, Gav. Don't worry."
Her words, meant to soothe, had the opposite effect. The restraint Gavin had been holding snapped. His face darkened, terrifyingly grim. "Whether it had anything to do with her is none of my business."
With that, he turned and walked away.
