Gavin watched Giselle holding Penelope.
She looked gentle and moving, her eyes cast downward, revealing a delicate, fair neck that radiated maternal warmth.
Gavin couldn't help but remember when Giselle had first become a mother. She was only 20, still practically a child herself, and yet responsible for another little life.
Her movements while holding the baby had been tense and awkward.
During the first two months after Penelope's birth, Gavin had spent more time holding her than Giselle had.
At some point, everything had changed. Giselle had transformed from a lively, sweet, and considerate woman into someone petty, self-centered, lost in her own world, and blind to right and wrong.
