ANDREA’S POV
“Drea, I know you’re worried, but hovering like this isn’t helping.”
Zayne might as well have been speaking gibberish for the effect his words had on me.
I stayed where I was—well, not where I was, since I was pacing the room anxiously as Zayne worked.
It had been over an hour since we’d brought Luca into the room, and…nothing.
Zayne had brought in his medical equipment. He’d checked Luca’s temperature, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and pulse rate. They were all dangerously low.
He’d tried everything he knew to do—CPR, glucose administration, pain stimulus, even smelling salts.
Nothing. My baby wouldn’t wake up.
When Zayne let out a heavy sigh, my heart flip-flopped.
“Z?” I asked, my voice shaking. “What’s next? What are you trying now?”
Just then, the door opened, and I whirled around to see Kade.
My eyes narrowed. “Where have you been?”
He let a heavy sigh. “Taking care of something.”
I scoffed, turning around. What else could be more important than his son?
