Chapter 282
For the three years of their marriage, Sebastian hadn't shown Vivienne anything but his loathing and contempt for her. He didn't even care whether she lived or died, and he let the likes of Mia and Melanie pick on her however they wanted.
Everyone knew Melanie was Sebastian's first love. Even Vivienne had fallen for that story.
But the more Vivienne interacted with Sebastian, the more she found it odd that Sebastian wasn't as clueless as he had formerly seemed. If that were the case, why had he behaved as if he were oblivious?
Vivienne's breath grew fast and shallow. She found herself recalling the crisis that had plagued the Lockharts not too long ago. Had Sebastian's response and behavior at the time been his way of pacifying the Fosters, too?
Deep down, Vivienne knew Sebastian didn't love her, but her mind was a mess right now. She even felt a little lightheaded.
She couldn't help but back away from the entryway, only to accidentally bump into the door that had been left open.
