Sebastian's movements gradually stilled.
In the flickering light from the screen, he caught sight of Vivienne's pale, stiff face.
He let out a quiet sigh before saying, "It's late. Let's get some rest."
Never mind. He wouldn't push her too hard—at least not now. She would be his wife for the rest of their lives. He had patience to spare.
Sebastian carried her back to bed, held her in his arms as he always did, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Vivienne didn't move. She didn't push him away and simply let him hold her.
Sebastian's steady breathing filled her ears, but her eyes remained open the entire night.
The next morning, Sebastian rose for work as usual.
Vivienne, however, didn't wake before him to prepare breakfast like she used to. She lay there with her eyes closed, as if still sound asleep.
