Matthew walked away—not back to Cloudview Residences, but straight to his office.
He already knew Dylan’s sudden appearance wasn’t some random event; Chloe clearly orchestrated the whole thing. But even if she hadn’t, Dylan still stood like an elephant in the room between him and Serena—a problem they couldn’t ignore forever.
The truth was, until Serena fully let go of Dylan in her heart, he didn’t have the guts to face it head-on. He was scared. Scared of losing her.
“Tell Mrs. Quinn I’ve got a lot on my plate at work, I’ll be staying in the office the next couple of days,” Matthew said flatly, after pacing for a moment, lighting a cigarette and taking a long drag. He exhaled slowly, eyes a bit lost as he gave the order to his assistant, Lucas, who stood quietly by the side.
