"You've got some nerve ignoring my calls."
As soon as they got in the car, Matthew’s tone was cold.
Serena leaned back lazily and asked, "What now, Mr. Quinn?"
"I’m heading out for a business trip tonight. I’ll be back in a week," he said, tone much calmer, like he had no interest in arguing.
"Okay."
"I’ve arranged for a caregiver to stay with your mom. You just stay put at school and don’t run around."
He paused for a moment, then added, "But honestly, her chances of waking up are pretty much zero. You should be ready for that."
He said it like he was casually talking about the weather.
"What do you mean 'chances of waking up are zero'?" Serena looked at him, shocked.
Matthew brushed some dust off his jacket, quiet and unfazed. That was enough answer.
"You knew all along, didn’t you? And you didn’t let the doctor tell me on purpose."
"Yeah," Matthew raised an eyebrow slightly.
