On the other side of the phone, Camille's tone was laced with displeasure. It sounded mocking and cold as she spoke.
"I knew you'd say that. Here's the thing, Max. The contracts with problems were all signed by you. With that in mind, I believe it's obvious you have to take complete responsibility."
It has never occurred to me that Camille would still harass me with such tactics.
I responded icily, "I was an employee of Layton Group back then, it was my job to sign those documents. Now, I have resigned from the company and carried out all handover processes.
"Someone from Layton Group is gonna have to handle the follow-up."
Yet, no amount of explanation I did was enough to make Camille see my point. She retorted in a huff, "I don't care about that! You're the one who signed the papers. So, you have a duty to take responsibility for them!"
Feeling at a loss for words, I could no longer bear listening to her nonsense. I pulled the phone away from my ear and hung up.
