KAELA’S POV
If I were a feral beast like the other occupants of the room, I might have snarled.
I had to clench my fists really tight to keep myself on the bed, to keep myself from lunging at Andrea and Zayne and pulling them apart.
I could sense the bond between them. I could sense Zayne’s willingness to sacrifice everything, even his life, for Andrea, and my anger and jealousy only doubled.
There and then, I wanted to leave—walk out the door and let them feel the loss when Luca eventually died and make them regret not trusting me.
But then I glanced back at Luca, and the urge left me. It wasn’t his fault his mother was a mistrusting shrew.
Besides, up close, I could see his light better. I could see the echoes of his soul—pure and bright and beautiful.
I would be doing the entire world a disservice if I let him die.
Plus, Zayne would never forgive me, and I just couldn’t have that.
Andrea gently pulled away from Zayne. “If anything happens to Matteo too,”—she sniffed—“I’ll die, Z.”
