"We're hoping to purchase a pair of horses," Jane began, stepping forward. "Doctor Ezra mentioned you might have some suitable ones."
The old man, who Jane presumed was Old Jeb himself, scrutinized them both with a critical eye. "Suitable for what?" he finally asked.
"A journey to Haverbrook," Lucian replied, his voice steady.
Old Jeb snorted. "Haverbrook, eh? Not exactly a Sunday stroll. You folks look like trouble."
Jane bristled at his bluntness, but Lucian remained unfazed. "We may look like trouble, but believe me, we're not," he said calmly. "We simply need transportation, and we're willing to pay a fair price."
Old Jeb studied them for a long moment before finally grunting in agreement. "Alright. Follow me."
