She could only imagine how Max's day was going. Facing nervous investors was never fun, but with this media circus going on, it must be a nightmare.
The day wore on, a blur of crisis management and damage control. Ava felt like she was playing whack-a-mole, addressing one issue only to have three more pop up. By midday, she was exhausted and frustrated.
Then, just as things seemed to be calming down, Lisa burst into Ava's office, her face pale. "You need to see this," she said, turning on the TV.
Jackson Price's smug face filled the screen, his trademark smirk in place as he addressed the camera. "Today on 'Price Check,' we have a special segment. An insider from Bennett Enterprises has come forward with shocking allegations of unethical practices within the company."
Ava's stomach dropped as a distorted voice began to speak. Despite the alteration, there was something familiar about the cadence, the way certain words were emphasized.
