Jason had always been a dedicated worker, but ever since he became the managing partner at the firm, his responsibilities seemed to have doubled overnight. It was a position he had worked hard for, and he was determined to excel. However, I began to notice the toll it was taking on him—and on us.
One evening, I was putting the kids to bed when Jason finally walked through the door, looking exhausted. His tie was askew, and his eyes had that weary look I had come to recognize all too well.
“Hey, you,” I greeted him softly, giving him a quick hug. “Long day?”
“You have no idea,” he sighed, collapsing onto the couch. “I barely made it through all the meetings today. And there’s still a pile of work waiting for me tomorrow.”
