Chapter 172: The Walk
Clayton and Camden headed out into the chilly rain, hand in hand. The B&B they were staying at was in a rather remote location, so the walk was quiet and scenic. "Are you okay after this morning?" Clayton eventually asked, not particularly wanting to bring it up now that they both seemed to be in a better frame of mind. But Camden was good at hiding her feelings, so he was worried that she wasn't okay and was simply repressing them. He wanted to be sure that she knew that she could open up to him in the event that she was bottling her emotions up. "I guess I'm alright. I actually feel a bit stupid. Like, I saw blood, and then did some spectacular mental gymnastics and jumped to the worst possible conclusion immediately," she admitted with a frown. "I don't think you overreacted," Clayton reassured her, "I think we did the right thing going to check it out. And now we know for next time. But I hope there isn't a next time," he shook his head, also frowning now as the memory of the morni
