I’m relaxed, sitting back in the consciousness I share with my wolf while Blaze runs through the forest, the white Alpha hot on her heels. Tongue out, Blaze pants excitedly with the fresh scent of Mora berries filling her nose. She lets me smell that – but not the white Alpha. Intentionally taking a turn around a tree too slowly, Blaze allows the Alpha to catch her. He leaps on top of her, and they roll across the grass, pawing and nipping each other playfully. But as Blaze rises once more to her feet, the Alpha does something he’s never done before. In a very natural move, as if this whole evening were a dance choreographed to end just like this, he mounts Blaze from behind. Before Blaze can block me out, I feel her first instinctive response: longing and submission. As if she’s been craving this very thing for weeks, desperate to give into his dominance. But then she shuts me out, shakes the Alpha off, and snaps her teeth at him. The Alpha actually whines before trying to
