Mae’s POV
I feel strange as I arrive at the debate on Friday.
First, because Aaron and I had to come separately to keep up appearances. Even if the whole world knows we’re mates now, tonight we’re rivals, and we have a performance to put on.
I’ve hardly been apart from him since Monday, since I told him I wanted to explore a relationship with him. Other than work, we spend practically every minute together.
We took turns sleeping at each other’s houses this week, we had dinner with Ruby as a family every night, we still went for our nightly “runs” in the forest to let our wolves play together. We even woke up and ate breakfast together, too. Almost like it was when we were married.

Because now he’s loving me as fiercely as I’ve always loved him, looking at me not only like he wants me physically, but as if his heart beats in time with mine, like he could spend the rest of his days gazing into my eyes, like it doesn’t matter to him what else happens in this wor
