“Again,” Damien said for the tenth time that evening.
“I can’t do it anymore,” I complained, lying on my back and staring at the ceiling.
“Yes, you can,” Damien sighed. “Remember, if we don’t do this, you’re not going to be able to beat him.”
“But why isn’t Anna here?” I asked. “Her presence would be so wonderful,” I said, even though I knew exactly why she was absent.
“You’re the one that told her to go and focus on finding information. You told her to go to District Two,” Damien complained.
“I know,” I said, sitting up and staring at him. “I know,” I repeated. “But it doesn’t mean I can’t whine about the lack of presence of my best friend.” I lay back again and stared at the ceiling.
“Again, Diana. Do it again. This time, try and find the room your wolf should have been.”
I closed my eyes and pictured his words until suddenly I was standing somewhere dark.
“Hello,” I said, but I got no response. “Hello,” I repeated, this time shouting a bit louder.
