The oldest man in the pack’s presence was merely calming for me. I watched him move through the council with a practiced ease that only someone who had been before the goddess herself could possess. Diana had a similar grace, I suddenly noticed. He looked at me, placing a hand on his staff.
“I apologize if I have caused some misunderstandings here, Alpha,” he said, bowing his head low, causing me to stand up.
“There’s no need for that, Lazarus,” I said as I walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. “If anything,” I muttered under my breath, “I’m a bit agitated. My elders don’t see the need to save a child’s life.”
