Diana
"Diana," Marcus whispered, waking me up.
"Yeah?" I whispered back and stretched out my sore body.
"We have a problem," he said.
"What is it?" I asked, feeling my heart rate spike.
"There's too many strange scents. I smell blood and death, Diana. A lot of it, in fact," he said.
"So what?" I asked, whispering. "Are we supposed to go back? Do we give up?"
"I don't know that. I don't know. But whatever is there can't be good. Anything could be hiding under that scent, and neither you nor I are capable of handling it. We barely have weapons. We gave some food to those kids on the street."
I rolled my eyes at him. "That was your fault. You left them alone."
"They were kids, Diana. And even though I don't know where they came from, I'm willing to bet they were with Ivan," he said. He started the engine and continued down the road.
"We have been out here for two days now," I said. "All because you love to put your foot on the brake nearly every five minutes."
