Chapter 17
"Suit yourself," Joseph eventually replied indifferently.
He pressed the intercom and said, "See him out, Leslie."
Chad stood frozen in place. His gaze drifted over Joseph's desk, landing on a photo frame.
It was an old photo of Willow and Joseph back in high school. In the corner, a date was stamped—it was right after she'd left Chad.
The realization tore at his heart. He turned around and strode toward the door, but he froze when his hand touched the doorknob.
"Joseph." Chad didn't turn around. His voice was rough with warning. "You'd better not get any ideas about her."
Joseph merely scoffed in reply. "Just who are you to say that now, Mr. Lawson? Her ex-husband?"
Chad stiffened but said nothing more. The door slammed shut behind him.
Joseph stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and dialed Willow's number. His face betrayed no emotion. When the call was connected, he said, "You'll have to come back to deal with the paperwork."
