Chad's Adam's apple bobbed as he stood at the courthouse entrance. Suddenly, he said, "I… I came in a hurry, so I didn't bring all my documents with me. Could you come with me to get them?"
Willow frowned and rejected him without hesitation. "Go get them yourself."
"Willow…" Chad's voice grew softer, almost pleading. "Only you know where my things are."
He looked down and smiled bitterly. "You'd know—I can't even find my neckties."
Willow eyed her watch and sighed. "Fine, let's get this settled quickly."
She didn't want to waste her time on pointless matters like this.

They walked toward the parking lot, Willow trailing behind Chad.
They both froze for a moment when Willow instinctively reached to open the passenger door. What had once been such a natural gesture now seemed awkward and unfamiliar.
Chad lightly drummed his fingers against the steering wheel, his gaze unconsciously drifting to her.
