Silvie’s POV
“Hi, April. Thank you so much for meeting me here.”
April frowned as she sipped on her complementary water. We made plans the previous night to meet up for dinner and had just gotten to the restaurant.
“Why are you thanking me? We’re friends, not acquaintances.”
“I know…”
“Besides, it’s been a while since we got to meet like this and catch up. Your job practically stole you away from me, except that one time we saw at TasteeCloud.” April smiled mischievously.
I don’t respond to that, instead choosing to abruptly switch the topic. “My mother had surgery two days ago.” I divulged. April gasped, her playful countenance disappearing immediately.
“How is she? Oh, I haven’t asked about her in so long.”
“No, no, it’s okay, April. You’ve been very busy. She’s doing fine. I actually just received my first paycheck and used it all to foot the bill.” Technically, I’d used it to repay the loan I took to pay the actual bill. There should’ve been at least a few hundred dollars left over
