"You were drunk back then and crashed into me," Claude said, casting his gaze back to her. "There might be parts of the occasion you don't remember."
Olivia was indeed puzzled by his words. She had no recollection of what he was referring to. She simply asked, "So?"
For a moment, Claude didn't respond. He took his time and then said, "So now, I'm the only one left."
He grew even quieter.
Olivia lifted her coffee cup and took a sip. Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.
Reaching into her pocket, Olivia pulled out her phone and saw that the call was from the authorities. With barely a glance, she pressed the button to reject it.
Claude asked, "Why not take it?"
"It's not important."
He nodded. "Alright."
Inwardly, Olivia was weighing her words, considering whether or not to bring up a particular topic. This was her last chance, her final moment of hesitation.
