The sun was barely up when I made my way to the training grounds. I stood at the edge of the clearing.
My heart was filled with so much pride as I watched the Lunar Guard move through their morning drills.
We were over eighty strong now.
Women of all shapes and ages were lined up in perfect formation.
Around me, I could hear the sounds of clashing swords as they trained hard.
“Hold your guard, Nia! Your elbow’s too high—expose your ribs!” Sergeant Vale’s said.
The tough weapons master from the east was already in her element, pacing the ranks and barking orders that left no room for weakness.
I watched the young she-wolf she addressed. Nia had potential. She showed no fear as she squared off against an opponent twice her size.
Nearby, Asha, a widowed mother of two, dodged a blow with speed.
Her movements were slower but measured. Watching her reminded me why this training mattered so much. These women weren’t just soldiers; they were survivors.
