NATALIE’S POV The world twisted around me in a flash of darkness. One moment, I was in my mother’s arms, and the next, my stomach dropped as if I’d been yanked through a void. My feet hit solid ground again, but the air was different. This time, the air was very thick. It was cold, and heavy. It smelled like there was something rotten here. I stumbled, trying to catch my breath, and looked around. We were no longer in the pack. Where were we? What had happened? It seemed like we disappeared and appeared somewhere entirely different. I noticed rough rocks coming out of the black soil. I looked up then I saw that the sky above was nothing but a swirling red haze. My heart sank into my stomach. “W-what is this place?” I whispered. I clutched my stomach, trying to protect my children. My wolf stirred inside me. she was uneasy and so was I. something wasn’t right. Aurora grabbed my shoulders. Her eyes looked frantic. but full of love. “Don’t be afraid, Natalie. I’m here. I’ll protect you.”
