ALEXANDER’S POV
The moment I saw Eliza come into the command tent, I couldn’t help the way my wolf stirred in my chest.
The sight of her made my chest tighten.
It was a feeling I hadn’t realized I’d been starving for until now.
The few days I spent apart from her had been unbearable, and now, standing in front of her, I wanted nothing more than to close the distance and pull her into my arms. But she didn’t look happy to see me.
She looked confused. She looked…annoyed even.
I felt disappointed at her reaction.
I had hoped my arrival as the new commander would be a pleasant surprise, but from the look in her eyes, it was anything but.
My wolf scolded me for misreading the situation.
