ALEXANDER’S POV
I walked down the corridor. Around me, warriors moved in preparation for battle.
I made my way to the war room.
I was supposed to discuss the secret army’s progress with Eliza, but as I approached, hushed voices caught my attention. No—not hushed, heated. A conversation was unfolding just beyond the doors.
I could hear words being exchanged.
I recognized the voices as Eliza and Derek.
I heard Derek ask her, “Then why did you agree to the marriage?”
Eliza responded, “Because my mother didn’t want me to die like my father and brothers. She wanted to protect me, and the best way she knew how was to make me Luna of a powerful pack. A pack she thought would keep me safe.”
They kept arguing. From my end, I could tell that Derek still had not gotten past his marriage with Eliza. He couldn't let go of the past. That was obvious.
“It wasn’t that simple—” Derek said again.
“It was,” Eliza cut him off, “You made a choice. And now you have to live with it.”
I pushed the doors open
