Hazel scoffed inwardly when she saw Rebecca’s text asking her to come to the restaurant outside the company. Typical Rebecca, she thought, always trying to avoid unnecessary attention. Hazel knew exactly why Rebecca wanted to meet somewhere more private—she wanted to confront her without the prying eyes of their coworkers. But Hazel was ready. If anything, she found herself almost enjoying the drama of it all. Rebecca didn’t realize she was merely a pawn in a much larger game, one where the main targets were Alexander and Emma.
As Hazel made her way to the restaurant, she couldn’t help but smirk. This corporate warfare was entertaining, but she reminded herself that she couldn’t lose focus on the actual plan. The sooner she dealt with Rebecca, the sooner she could move forward with what really mattered.
When Helena asked if Hazel would be joining them for lunch, Hazel simply shook her head. “Not today. I’ve got something else to take care of,” she said, her tone curt. Helena watched
