Olivia sat in the cold, dimly lit room where Eleanor had ordered Vargas to lock her. The heavy wooden door had been slammed shut hours ago, and the only sound now was the faint hum of the estate’s heating system. The room was small, almost claustrophobic, with only a narrow bed and a single chair. The walls were bare, except for the fading remnants of old wallpaper that peeled at the corners, revealing the cold stone underneath.
She paced around the confined space, her bare feet dragging across the rough wooden floor. Her mind was a storm of chaotic thoughts, each one swirling faster than the last. Her hands shook as she bit her nails down to the quick, her eyes wild with a mixture of fear and anger. Every time she tried to sit still, the thoughts grew louder, more insistent, until she couldn’t take it anymore and had to move.
