Chapter 96: Another Truth
Stephen's hands trembled as he ended the call with Eleanor. The woman's visit had left him rattled. Everything about her—the way she carried herself, the documents she presented—suggested she knew far more than she should. He had to get ahead of this, to figure out what Eleanor had done this time. Grabbing his coat from the back of his chair, he stormed out of his office, barking at his secretary that he'd be back soon.
His mind raced as he made his way to his car. Eleanor had always been reckless, but this was different. Whoever this woman was, she had rattled him, and that didn’t happen easily. It was time to confront Eleanor and figure out what game she was playing now. But this time, he wouldn’t be swept up in her web of lies and deceit.
As Stephen sped out of the parking lot, his thoughts were a jumbled mess. He didn’t notice the car that had discreetly followed him since he left the office. Inside the trailing vehicle, Michael kept a steady distance, his eyes focused on Stephen
