The city welcomed Liora with a light rain that had been falling since dawn. It was just a constant drizzle, like a gentle reminder that even the sky had no intention of clearing up that day. From behind the taxi window, the buildings looked lower, the streets narrower, and people walked quickly with unfamiliar faces. This city was not a beautiful escape. It was merely a place to hide.
Nolan slept in the back seat, his small body wrapped in a thick jacket that was too big for him.
