Chapter 51: Personal Grudge
Sarah gave him a tight-lipped smile before refusing the call. “Do you have anything to ask about work?” she prompted.
“None. I just wanted to get us out of the awkward situation,” Carson informed her.
Sarah hummed. With a sigh, she spoke again. “Would you mind pulling up in front of the mall? I need to buy some things.”
Carson didn’t argue and slid into the service lane. When he dropped her in front of the shopping mall, he rolled the window down and gave her a smile. “Don’t forget to celebrate your first day of work. This is the easiest it is ever going to be. From tomorrow, it’s going to be war,” Carson told her. There was a note of provocation in his voice that took her aback but she understood his meaning immediately.
“You should get going. You must want to celebrate yourself, then,” Sarah countered.
“I do have much reason to celebrate, but unfortunately, none of my family live in the city,” he said with a faint sigh. One could tell he was close to his family.
Sarah nodded
