KIMBERLY’S POV
The moment I asked the question, I noticed it.
Xavier's whole body had tightened, jaw muscles flexing and fingers clenched in a fist.
I wondered what it could be that made him react like that.
My eyes remained on him as I waited for his response.
Then he took a deep breath and finally said, “My father died years ago.”
I waited for him to say the cause of his death but he never did, which made me suspicious that there was something he wasn’t telling me but I decided not to push it. That was a topic for another day.
“As for my mother," He paused, glanced at me, and continued. "She was pronounced dead, which was something she and my father agreed to after my father’s death.."
