The mother and daughter were still joking around when the sound of a car horn came from outside the yard.
"That should be Oliver," Claire said as she stood up from the wicker chair. "I'll go check."
She had just finished a call with Adrian earlier that afternoon, and Oliver had also called to ask how she was doing. He'd even said he'd try to come home early tonight.
Technically, he should've stayed late at the office—there were still things left to handle.
But clearly, he couldn't stop worrying. He probably felt he needed to see with his own eyes that Claire and Henry were safe before he could truly relax.
No amount of money could outrank knowing your family is safe and sound.
Claire wanted him to feel at peace too, so the moment she heard the car, she tugged Henry along to go greet him.
