"Just in time, I was hoping to have a word with you," said Edward Hughes, pushing back his chair. He had finished breakfast a while ago, but with that little drama at the table, he hadn't gotten a chance to leave.
He wasn't really sure what the argument was even about, so he didn't want to butt in—just waited for them to wrap it up so he could talk to Claire.

Sounded like she wanted to talk about something too. But Edward figured it wasn't the best time to ask more, so he stood up and got straight to the point—he needed to discuss that contract with her.
