Before Miguel could finish his sentence, he heard Sheila softly say, "Miguel, I'm pregnant."
He froze. "You're what...?"
Then, his eyes lit up. "Wait, are you serious? You're really pregnant? Are you sure? When did you find out?"
Sheila's voice was quiet and bashful. "I've been feeling a little nauseous the last few days, so I took a test just to check. It showed two pink lines. I haven't gone to the hospital yet. I was hoping you'd come with me."
Miguel immediately said, "Wait for me. I'm coming home right now."
He hung up without another word, not even sparing Enrica a glance, and rushed off in a hurry.
Enrica stood there watching him leave, then let out a soft, bitter laugh.
She hadn't been able to get pregnant once during their two years of marriage. But Sheila was barely back in the picture and already expecting. So maybe it really was her—maybe she really couldn't have kids.
But then again, they were divorced now. Whether she could or couldn't conceive didn't matter anym
