Arthur descended the stairs and stepped between Ayra and Juliana, his commanding presence cutting between them. “No hitting,” he said firmly.
“Jian, she almost got you killed! I was just teaching her a small lesson,” Ayra retorted, her voice laced with pride. She was determined to remind Juliana of her place—a mere maid didn’t deserve Arthur’s protection.
“That’s enough. You have no right to lay a hand on her,” Arthur said coldly, his tone leaving no room for argument. Then his eyes fell on the vivid red handprint on Juliana’s pale cheek. His brows furrowed. “Go upstairs and take a shower,” he instructed.
Without a word, Juliana turned and walked away. Ayra’s eyes filled with tears. “Jian, do you have any idea how worried I was about you?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Arthur frowned slightly. “You must be tired. Get some rest.”
Ayra sniffled, holding back her emotions. “You should’ve let her fall as she pleased! Your life is far more precious than hers!”
