Nicholas did a magnificent job in playing his part.
I give him an applause for it.
Nicholas managed to pull off the perfect act—a fake romantic speech, a sparkling ring, and just the right amount of charm to keep the guests enchanted. It was a show, nothing more. A well-rehearsed performance designed to fool everyone in this grand ballroom into believing that this was something real.
And I had to stand beside him, smiling as if I believed it. The guests were eager to congratulate us, shaking our hands, toasting to our happiness.
I played my part, just as we agreed.
But inside, I felt nothing.
I stayed beside him, wearing my best convincing smile, as waves of people came up to congratulate us. They showered us with compliments, wished us happiness, and gushed about how perfect we looked together. If only they knew the truth.
There were fleeting moments when I almost forgot I was surrounded by strangers, when the weight of expectations threatened to drown me. T
