My phone vibrated against the wooden nightstand. The message from Caroline flashed on the screen, the words sharp and urgent.
Come to the Alpha's office. Now.
A sharp pang of unease twisted in my gut. I hesitated for only a second before throwing on my jacket and slipping out of my room, my bare feet making no sound against the polished floorboards.
Knox had never mentioned a meeting. And if Caroline was calling me, it could only mean one thing—it was about me.
The hallways of the packhouse were dim, lit only by the golden glow of the wall sconces. The scent of pinewood lingered in the air, mingling with the faint aroma of burning logs from the fireplaces. I moved quickly, my heart pounding against my ribs, dread creeping in with every step.
