The Phone That Changes Everything

When I stepped out of the bathroom, steam was still clinging to my skin. The first thing I saw was the bed. I stopped so suddenly that water rolled off my legs onto the floor.
There was something lying in the center of the mattress, it was a phone.
I tightened the towel around myself and took a slow step forward. My fingers shook before I even touched it. I didn’t hear footsteps earlier. No one should have been in here. Lucian never walked into my room without announcing it, not like this.
I reached for the device. It was cool against my fingers, the screen lighting up instantly. No password, not even apps. Just a blank home screen. I didn’t look deeper. My heart was already beating too hard.
I dressed quickly and left the room, the phone hidden inside my bag. The house was too quiet. The hallway felt different, like someone had walked here recently.
When I reached the stairs, Enzo stood near the base, checking something on his radio.
