Scarlett’s eyes flicked between me and the clerk, the tension thick in the room. After a long silence, she finally scoffed. “You’re really trying to rob me.”
I smiled slightly. “No. Just matching the price to the buyer.”
She glared at me, her pride clearly at war with her common sense. “You think I can’t afford it?”
“Oh, I don’t doubt you’ll make it happen,” I said calmly, “but it’s funny how a famous celebrity like you is hesitating over money. Makes one wonder if you’re all talk and no credit.”
Scarlett’s lips twitched. “Fine. I’ll take it.”
The clerk looked between us, still stunned. “I’ll draw up the papers.”
I watched as Scarlett’s name was signed and the transaction completed. When the alert came through on my phone showing the fifty million deposited in my account, I felt nothing but satisfaction.
