Chapter 186 Spend Whatever It Takes
Tristan looked at the woman in front of him. Every inch of Cressida bristled with thorns—her guardedness, her cold indifference.
They form a towering barrier, shutting him out entirely. He didn't explain himself again or try to argue. He simply opened the car door, slid inside, and shut it behind him.
The black Bentley didn't linger for even a breath. The engine sputtered to life before the car slipped into the stream of traffic and vanished into the night. It was only when even the faintest glint of taillight disappeared that Cressida's spine finally gave out.
The night breeze cut across her skin, and she shivered, realizing for the first time how cold her hands and feet were. She looked down at the folder which contained her designs and suddenly felt how ridiculous everything was.
Wasn't this what she wanted? A clean break—no ties, no mess. Then, why did her chest feel so hollow? Why did it hurt so much?
