"I don't want a single penny of yours," Cressida retorted.
The mockery Luther was about to throw at her got stuck in his throat.
Cressida retrieved the divorce papers he'd slammed onto the desk, smoothed the glaring crease with her fingertips, and then pushed them back across the table.
"I'll walk away with nothing. However, you have to agree to one extra condition."
He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, like someone watching a farce. His eyes glinted with amusement. "Go on."
"Starting three months from now, transfer 500 thousand dollars a month into this account until my grandma passes away."
She pulled a small note from her bag and pressed it beneath the agreement. A string of bank numbers stared up at him.
The amusing grin vanished from his face. He'd expected tears, demands, threats, or even dramatic ploys, but never this.
Three months? Installments? Money for her grandmother's care?
He couldn't understand it at all. A strange feeling of anger burned inside him.
