Chapter 2: I Need Relief

“What are you wanting to get into tonight anyway?” Luca said while shoveling a spoonful of oatmeal into his mouth. I looked at him in disgust.
“Is that oatmeal? It’s dinner time.” I hate oatmeal, no matter what time of the day it is.
“Mind your business.” Luca shoved another spoonful of oatmeal in his mouth. I couldn’t help but to roll my eyes. I sighed.
“I don’t know, man. Let's just go for a ride and see where we end up.” I answered Luca’s question from earlier.
“You want to head toward the city?” Luca questioned.
The mythical lands have no blacktop within miles. Even outside the veil you have to travel at least twenty miles on overgrown dirt roads to make it to the nearest main road.
“Yeah, I have to get out of here for a while. I feel like I am suffocating.”
Luca turned his bowl up to his mouth, finishing off the last of his oatmeal. I held back a gag. Turning my back to Luca, I headed to the closest exit from the dining room. Luca scrambled to catch up.
