Kaitlyn opened the drawer and rummaged through it for a moment before pulling out a slightly rusted thimble and handing it to Marnie. She said, "I haven't used this in ages, not sure if it still works. Take it, it's yours."
Marnie took the thimble, her expression serious as she continued, "Did you hear me? Don't you dare tell anyone about Gage's situation! You have to remember this, no matter what!"
Kaitlyn nodded. "I heard you. I won't say a word."
The two women walked toward the yard as a car pulled up to the front gate. Inside the car, Kyler had been crying since they entered the village.
He was not making any noise, but the tears kept coming. He could not believe that he was finally home. Seeing the familiar surroundings of the village stirred up so many emotions in him.
Matthew saw that Kyler was struggling to keep it together and tried to comfort him. "We're almost there. You should stop crying."
Kyler wiped his eyes, but the tears did not stop. "I can't help it," he choke
