Chapter 69 Unworthy of the Larson Family's Suffering
Kaia stared at Luke, her gaze utterly calm, like a lifeless pool of water.
After a moment, she slowly lowered her legs and turned to face Luke. She spoke in a hoarse voice as if it had been scraped by sandpaper, "Since you don't want to interfere with my fate, why are you meddling in my life?"
Luke took a drag of his cigarette, exhaled a smoke ring, and watched it spiral up into the air before his eyes settled on Kaia through the mist.
"Life is a drama," he said. "Sometimes, just one extra audience member can change the entire story. I want to see what your life will become if you don't die tonight."
Kaia was taken aback. Luke remained calm throughout, his demeanor cold and almost indifferent.
Life or death of others seemed to mean nothing to him. Yet, the words he spoke, though not exactly comforting, still stirred something within her.
Given the choice, who would truly want to die? If life could still be brilliant, who would willingly destroy it?
